Four years after the release of his 2014 film Robo, Superstar Rajinikanth has made a grand comeback with his latest outing Vikramasimha, which is the dubbed version of his much-talked about film Kochadaiyaan. KS Ravikumar has written the story, while Rajini's daughter Soundarya directed the film, which has been produced by Eros International with a whopping budget of Rs 125 crores.Vikramasimha is motion capture 3D computer-animated period film and Rajinikanth's acting is the main highlight of the movie. KS Ravikumar's wonderful script, AR Rahman's melodious music, Rajiv Menon's picturisation, Peter Hein's action and war scenes, well-choreographed dance sequences, Deepika Padukone's acting and Digitally created Nagesh's scenes are other attractions in it. But poor graphics work is one major drawback of the film. After Rajinikanth, KS Ravikumar-written story is the second hero in Vikramasimha, which is the fictional account of Pandiyan king Kochadaiiyaan Ranadhiran's life and his conquests. It shows the benevolent king's sense of justice and his fight against the evils. For the first time in India, the facial performance capture technology, which was used in Hollywood movies like Tin Tin and Avatar, has been used in this movie to recreate live actors performance in 3D.Director Soundarya Rajinikanth has got good grip on the narration of Vikramasimha. Rajini's voice and AR Rahman's couple of composition will keep you engrossed in the narration in the first half of the film. Rajini's acting and a war scenes are enjoyable in the second half. When compared to the first half, the second half of the film is very entertaining.Rana (Rajinikanth) is fighting to regain the lost glory of his father Vikramsimha (Rajinikanth). Valiant warrior Rana impresses the king of Kalingpuram. He wins his trust and on his advise, the king declares a war against Kottaipattanam. But the king is shocked to see Rana supporting his rival king in the battlefield. Kalingpuram king is hurt by Rana's betrayal and now he seeks revenge against him.
